DEJ #12

Quote: They need to understand a new language of expression. The way we are educating is based on nineteenth-century ideas and methods. Here we are, entering the twenty-first century, and you look at our schools and ask, 'Why are we doing things in this ancient way?' Our system of education is locked in a time capsule. You want to say to the people in charge, 'You're not using today's tools! Wake up!'

Reaction: Who couldn't agree with this statement while the world and all the technology in it is rapidly changing and getting more and more incredible and giving us unbelieveable abilities to access information that our parents and grandparents had limited if any access to it at all and you look at our school system and the majority of the teaching methods are exactly the same as when they were in school. How can we expect our generation and future generations to excel and gain the greatest amount of knowledge when we are restricting them with old crippling teaching styles and out of date text books. This course has really made me open my eyes to understand that technology is necessary in today's classroom so we as teachers and future teachers need to step it up!

  2. Absolutely. It seems that everything is being updated except education. Students need some way to be interested in studying. If it continues, we will loose more and more students which means that our world definitely will be ended.

  4. Student's today have access to massive amounts of information yet none of them possess the skills to deal with it. You're so right that teachers need to utilize the technology available and get students ready for our 21st century environment!
