Quote: I was placed in the “dummy class.” There were three of us, separated from our classmates at a table in the corner of the room. One day, the teacher, who seldom spoke to us since it was understood that most of what she taught was beyond the reach of our intelligence, placed books in our hands and whispered that we should sit there quietly “pretending to read.” The principal was coming.

Relfection: I found this quote particularly disturbing although I know in this time little was knowing about such disablities as dyslexia. It wasn't the lack of knowledge that bothered me so much but more the lack of assistance the lack of faith in th student and the over all ignorance of the teacher. How anyone could stick a student in the corner and ignore them and deprive them of the ability or the gift to obtain a greater knowledge of the world around them disturbs me wore than words can describe. I feel that the teachers and the school system were so closed minded about these students and could have done so much more for them if they simply would have thought outside the box and had a little more faith in ALL of their students.

Quote: "More than 50% of these participants had moved from an internet relationship to a "real life" one. Nearly a quarter became engaged, married or lived together."
Reflection: I was completely amazed when I read this. I would have figured that internet dating would have lead to a higher percentage of failed relationships. I just dont see how a website can lead to more strong serious relationships but then it also make sense that people are more upfront about themselves or their opinions on online dating sites, social networking sites, etc. If this seems to be a successful future for many people I am all about it however I personally still don't see how online dating can be this successful.

web 2.0 tool
The tool I discovered and found the most interesting and versatile was tikatok. Where you can create your own book. I think this gooo could be used on almost any grade level in one way or another although it would probably be more suited for younger children as opposed to older students. You could incorporate it in to your lesson plan very easily personally as a history major I would choose to have the student help create a book related to the topic being studied in the class room at that particular time because they would enjoy the involvement as well as feel a sense of accomplishment for helping create the book as well as memorizing the crucial facts of the lesson.

Deconstructing Arnold 2
1. What do you see? How does he look?
the background is a more professional welcoming color, his wardrobe is very political
2. How does he make you feel?
This makes me feel like I am looking at a very good well put together candidate running for governor, He seems polished and cut out for the job and has an encouraging smile.
3. What do you think about this person now? How does he make you feel?
I think this portrays him and give me the overall feeling that he is much more professional makes him seem like an all around good guy.
4. How does he look? How do those "looks: influence how you feel?
once again the overall concept of this photo seems political, he looks very trustworthy and cut out for the job this would definitely be a positive photo for his campaign
5. What lifestyles, values, points of view are represented or omitted?
this just gives the overall picture of a politician there is nothing that could be seen as offensive by anyone its a very safe picture that would be appealing to many different age groups and backgrounds.
Deconstructing Arnold 1
1. What do you see? How does he look?
In this photo he looks very tough and almost dangerous ,he looks very rough around the edges as well as being in front of the flame background giving it a very edgy and tough look.
2. How does he make you feel?
From what I see in this picture the first thought that comes to my mind is initimidating, he looks like someone I would not want to run into on the streets.
3. What do you think about this person now? How does he make you feel?
This photo accurately describes his role as an action movie star he seems tough and intimidating.
4. How does he look? How do those "looks: influence how you feel?
Once again the overall apperance of this photo is very masculine and tough
5. What lifestyles, values, points of view are represented or omitted?
there is no sense of him being"an average joe" in this photo he does not seem like an everyday type of guy in this photo.
Double Journal Entry #7
Quote: From video games to social networks, incorporating what students are doing online into the school curriculum holds great, and perhaps the only, promise for keeping students engaged in learning.
Reflection: This quote from the reading shows that technology and using it to relate to students is the best hope that educators have reaching them the best they can. we all know that by using something new and interesting you spark the students attention at a greater level than by using the usual traditional methods of classroom teaching. As our society continues to become more enveloped in the many different forms of technology it is important for teachers to stay up to date on trends in technology targeted for the age group that they are teaching in order to possibly incorporate it in their curriculum and make the students more aware of digitial media literacy by using some of the common tools and wbsites that the students use on a daily basis.
